Las Cruces Real Estate | Throwback Thursday - NM State University
Founded in 1888, New Mexico State University was originally opened with the name Las Cruces College. In 1989, the school became an agricultural college and went by the new name New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. In 1890, the school merged with two other entities and the following semester had only 35 students enrolled and 6 faculty members. By 1960, the school was yet again renamed to New Mexico State University and has not changed since. The school has nearly 16,000 students enrolled from all 50 states and 71 nations around the globe. The school is a land-grant college, and that is why NMSU is able to provide a liberal and practical education for its students and is able to sustain programs of research, extension education and public service.
