Las Cruces Real Estate | Throwback Thursday - Billy the Kid

Most people have heard of the notorious outlaw and gunfighter nicknamed Billy the Kid, but only locals to this area might know that when he was caught, he was put on trial in the town of Mesilla. The building located around the Mesilla plaza was originally owned by Narcisco Valencia and is where Billy the Kid stood trial and was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. His crimes included not only killing several people but also stealing livestock and illegal gamlbing. Today, the building is a gift shop for visitors to buy souvenirs. So if you’re ever in the Mesilla plaza, stop by the pink stucco building with Billy the Kid’s picture on it and take a step inside history.
